A DAY AT THE BEACH

"Today's high will be in the low nineties."

That's what the man on the radio said to me this morning, as I cleared the sleep from my eyes. I got up and went to the freezer for a cool breeze and some breakfast only to find the frozen yogurt soft as soup.

I know what you're thinking,

"Frozen yogurt for breakfast?"

Well the man did say it was hot!

"How hot was it?", You ask.

Well... Both Cookie (that's my dog) and Rocky (that's my cat) were sitting and staring at the fan, waiting for me to turn it on.

While sipping my yogurt I wondered how I would stay cool today.

Immediately I thought,

"That's why I like Lynn"

I looked down at my two little friends and announced,

"I'm going to the beach".

They both looked at me, then at each other and then back at me.

I said, "Sorry Guys, you can't come."

They went happily back to staring at the fan.

Within ten minutes of any part of Lynn you can have your feet in the water whether it be a pond or the ocean--which I think makes us pretty lucky.

So there I was a short time later with my newspaper, lounge chair and a chunk of ice in a bottle, basking in the quiet sunlight.

"Ah.... This is the life."

I have to say it again.

"That's why I like Lynn"

I soon dozed off and was suddenly awakened by a bump on the head. I looked up to see a young boy holding a Frisbee...

"Sorry," he said

At this time I realized an hour had passed.

I found myself surrounded by screaming kids, thumping music and a city-like gathering of blankets and umbrellas.

It was time to pack it up and head home.

"That was fun."

Ten minutes later, there I sat, cooling off in front of the fan, sitting between

Cookie and Rocky.
